Paradise in Bangkok

Our arrival in Bangkok was a shock to everyone. Though Guangzhou was packed, it had an order about it. Bangkok knows only chaos. That is until you step into Phranakorn Nornlen phranakorn-nornlen.com This is like returning to the '50's. It's hard to describe but when you're inside you can believe that Bangkok is gone.

When the kids saw the entrance to the guest house, down a dingy Bangkok alley they were sure that we had gone crazy. I think I agreed with them for a while until we went through the gates. This is the ultimate don't judge a book by it's cover experience. Since they have been inside they have had their best meals of the trip, best smoothie of their lives, pineapple juice to die for topped off with bedrooms that have been hand painted with murals.

Ella has decided that it's not likely that we'll find better accomodation during the rest of the trip.

  1. Hey - lookin' good hamsteads! that place seems more like a happy, easy adventure. So glad you are in a lovely place. And Ella, trust me, it will get better and better as you get used to being in different places. Each one is wonderful.
Cold here this morning. 1 degree. mittens on our walk to school. Keep on bloggin' in the free world! It is amazing to have faced the kind of closure to something so simple as blogging in China. Makes you appreciate the littlest corners of freedom!

While you are all thinking of elephants and smoothies, with a wee bit of fresh snow on the mountain tops, i had my first powder skiing dream last night. What an amazing world we live in.

Love to you all! We miss you so.

  4. Bruce and I sent the Hmastead a "welcome" drink and it turned into a lovely exchange of outstanding hospitality.

The response to our request to organize the little surprise:

    Dear Bruce and Deirdre

Thank you very much for your email, what a lovely family you are !!!
Once I have received your email yesterday ,I have informed my colleague to prepare them special drink as a surprise , specially delivered to their room
My staff told me that there were so surprised and happy. It is very nice of you to think of them and at the same time , I am certainly that they do miss you a lot too
